Hello, Jack! Welcome to our interview. We're happy to see you. How are you feeling?
— Thank you, it’s an honour to be asked to do this!
Traditionally, we usually start our interviews with a question about the history of the actors. Could you please tell us how you decided to connect your life with this type of profession?
— It all started after watching my Nana in a Pantomime! Dick Whittington (I think it was) and I loved every second! I knew from then I wanted to be in theatre.
You perform in various theatrical productions. Tell us please about your most memorable ones.
— I’ve been blessed to be a part of so many new productions and I have learnt so much from each of them. The first of which being ‘The Witches’ which will be playing at the National Theatre this winter. It was so exciting to be in the room when ‘The Witches’ was first being developed and I can’t wait to see how much it has grown since the workshop two years ago.
Would you like to act in movies? If so, what genre would you like to be in?
— THIS IS MY DREAM! I’m not picky I think any genre hahaha! Of course, as long as it has a good storyline!
If you can play any existing character, which one would you like to choose and why?
— For theatre, Bobby in ‘Company’, but for screen is has to be James Bond of course!
The ‘Next To Normal’ musical, which you are a part of, will be premiering very soon. How does it feel to be a member of this project?
— It has been an experience like no other. ‘Next to Normal’ is such an important and precious story and the way in which the creative team, stage management and everyone at the Donmar have supported us through this process has been flawless. It’s a true honour to be able to work with each member of this company and to be able to tell this story to UK audiences for the first time.
Is there a theatre you would dream of doing a production in?
— It was always the Donmar! So I’m so thrilled to be able to tick that off the list! I’d love to perform at the National Theatre too! (Hopefully soon hehe).
How do you prepare for your roles? Is there a special way?
— I don't know if I'd call my preparation ‘special’ ha, but I always go through the script thoroughly and identify the facts of the character that are already given to us in the text and this allows me mould the parameters of the character. Then I can fill in the gaps myself to truly make the character my own.
Could you describe yourself in 3 words?
— Optimistic, kind and mischievous.
What do you like to do in your spare time? Do you have any other hobbies?
— Fitness has always been a big part of my life so most days you can find me at the gym! But you also can’t beat just having a simple coffee and catch up with people who you cherish.
