Interview with Alistair Nwachukwu

Alistair Nwachukwu is an British actor who trained at The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. Alistair plays many roles in the theater. This year he appeared as Adrik in the popular Netflix show «Shadow and Bone». 

Hello, Alistair! Congratulations for the «Shadow and Bone» season 2 premiere! Please share with us your impressions of filming in this project.

 

— Filming for «Shadow and Bone» was an absolute pleasure, it’s my first ever television role, the cast and crew made me feel so comfortable on set, I loved every moment of being there.

 

At what moment in your life did you decide to become an actor and why?

 

— I actually to become an actor pretty later on in my life, I’ve always enjoyed telling stories and revealing humanity, I had never had the confidence to fully go for my dreams, until a few friends encouraged me and I haven’t looked back since, I always say to people to always follow your heart. 

 

You have a lot of roles you've played in the theater. Which one is your favorite?

 

— My favourite role which will always be close to my heart is from a play called Red Velvet by Lolita Chakrabarti, I played the role of Ira Aldridge, a young man from America who was the first American American to play Othello on stage. 


Have you read any books from the Grishavers universe? If so, which one did you enjoy the most?

 

— My favourite book from the Grishaverse universe has to be King of Scars.

Have you watched the new season yet?

 

— I have seen the new season and its incredible, the story, the writing, special effects, the new cast members, EVERYTHING about it is MAGICAL! 

 

What was the most memorable moment from the filming of «Shadow and Bone»?

 

— The most memorable moment for me has to be filming with Ben Barnes, just witnessing his level of freedom and professionalism on set it really inspired me as an actor to carry his level of generosity on set whenever I am next on set. 

 

Can you please share with us some of the behind-the-scenes story?

 

— There was an amazing night where myself and Kit Young sung Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars together, its a moment ill never forget.

Do you have a dream role? If you could play any existing character, who would it be?

 

— My dream role would be William Shakespeares - Othello.

 

Do you have any other hobbies? What do you like to do in your spare time?

 

— Hobbies that I love: singing, salsa dancing, bachata, writing poems and traveling around the world, meeting new people and cultures.

 

We saw some backstage and your dance with Joanna. That's really cool! Where did you study dance?

 

— I learned how to dance at drama school, i studied at The London academy of music and dramatic arts for 4 years. 

Your favorite movie?

 

— The pursuit of happiness.

 

Favorite TV series? 

 

— Shadow and Bone.

 

Favorite book?

 

— Rainer Maria Rilke - Letters to a young poet.

 

Your favorite quote?

 

— This too shall pass.

— Summer.
